Job Description

This is a part-time Dispatcher position scheduled for Saturday and Sunday from 6AM-4:30PM

Coordinates product, vehicle, and driver availability to dispatch company-owned trucks to ensure timely delivery of products to customers and third parties.

Day-to-Day Role:

  • Follow and commit to meet Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) for safety, quality, efficiency, and service requirements
  • Follow practices and processes intended to provide safe products that comply with appropriate laws and regulations, meet the company quality standards
  • Follow and commit to safety and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices)
  • Plan, schedule, coordinate, dispatch, route, and track tractors and trailersto include monitoring driver's hours of service, on time deliveries, rescheduling drivers and loads to cover unforeseen changes, make adjustments as needed when necessary
  • Develop efficient routes to ensure that deliveries are made in a timely fashion; accept, refuse loads in TMS within required time frame
  • Monitor all trips real-time and effectively coordinate pick-ups and drop offsto include coordinating weekly backhauls at every available opportunity
  • Maintain contact with drivers throughout their shifts and address routing or emergency issues; escalate as appropriate
  • Monitor road conditions, construction zones, and accidents in order to revise routes as needed
  • Interact with and update customers on the status of their deliveries including potential delays; utilize the TMS to enter load notes for all communications such as rejections, customer holds, driver challenges, and concerns with appointment times
  • Identify and seek to resolve potential problems
  • Monitor and track drivers' working hours and vehicle usage
  • Interface with supervisor to secure additional drivers, utilize outside carriers, modify existing equipment, or acquire additional equipment to satisfy capacity demands with corporate
  • Enter, record, maintain and track data, logs, reports and other required documentation using ERP or other systems; Ensure regulatory requirements are maintained
  • Create, compile, and deliver required reports; perform yard checks as needed
  • Address and respond to correspondence including phone calls, email, and dock windowworking across departmental lines to ensure expectations are met at other locations for those with shuttling needs

Core Skills and Qualifications:

The ideal candidate must possess all of the following:

  • High School Diploma or GED and one (1) year previous tractor trailerfreight dispatching experience
  • Quick decision-making skills, especially under pressure
  • Excellent verbal communication and customer service skills, including a pleasant phone demeanor
  • Strong written communication skills demonstrating the ability to respond to email, prepare reports and correspondence, and other supplemental materials in a clear and concise manner
  • Experience using Microsoft Office, including the ability to create reports, documents, and spreadsheets in MS Word and MS Excel
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Organizational skills including the ability to prioritize workload to meet deadlines
  • Ability to effectively manage and execute multiple tasks, projects and priorities
  • Math skills to include simple addition, subtraction, multiplication and division
  • Demonstration of minimum proficiency with the English language in order to ensure effective new hire training and on-going communications about safety and quality issues

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • SAP experience
  • Basic understanding of Hours of Service (HOS) regulations
  • Previous Electronic Logging Device (ELD) experience, Samsara
