Job Summary

Basic Duties and Responsibilities:

The Shipping Team lead is responsible for daily execution of warehouse functions specific to Outbound Shipping .The Shipping Team Lead must be self-motivated, promote good morale and productivity, and maintain a high level of communication with their team and the Shipping Supervisor. Position reports to the Shipping Supervisor, working as part of the Southaven management team to drive continuous improvement using metrics to achieve logistics excellence in service, quality and cost.

This position requires the ability to perform all responsibilities in a safe, accurate and timely manner in accordance with Safety policy & procedures, Quality and the principles of 6S3Q, and time standards. Regular attendance is a mandatory requirement due to the nature of the role. The schedule for this role is Sunday - Thursday, 8 p.m. - 5 p.m., and overtime as needed.

Job Description

ESSENTIAL Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for leading warehouse operations by driving productivity and contributing to on time delivery targets.
  • Provides a thorough understanding of all warehouse operations, processes and systems to be able to proactively manage and work independently on issues in a timely manner and provide accurate resolutions.
  • Interact with other hourly employees to apply sound communication and motivational techniques
  • Lead continuous improvement of service, quality and cost management leveraging lean manufacturing principles.
  • Supervise departmental employees and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma; Associate's degree preferred
  • Experience in warehouse operations in a distribution environment
  • At least 2 (two) years direct experience in warehouse supervision
  • 2 (two) or more years in a leadership role supervising people in a distribution environment
  • Valid Driver's license

SKILLS:

  • Computer literacy to include Warehouse Management Systems and MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet Explorer)
  • Communication skills-ability to communicate with all levels within the organization to include customers, corporate office contacts, employees and managers.
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to develop working relationships as a team builder and motivator, providing effective leadership
  • Excellent problem-solving skills

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Position requires sitting, walking, stooping, bending, talking in person and by phone or video; the stamina to work the shift as scheduled and on a regular basis, ability to work in a non-climate controlled facility with exposure to heat and/or cold in accordance with weather conditions, lifting large, small or awkwardly shaped items on a regular or repeated basis as needed, domestic and international travel by car, plane, train; extensive use of computer equipment.
