As a Senior Business Financial Analyst, you will provide financial and control expertise to the Electrification Installation Products "ELIP" in Hackettstown, NJ, benchmarking KPIs while working with other finance professionals to understand the drivers of financial performance, identifying trends relevant to the business. You will study business performance, including financial modelling to forecast the impacts and risks, and recommend areas for continuous improvement. This role will need to be able to work onsite in Hackettstown, NJ to be able to collaborate daily with Plant Leadership.

Your responsibilities

  • Take the lead and collaborate on the preparation of financial reporting, business planning, budgeting, and forecasting documents and presentations
  • Lead in sustaining the alignment with Accounting Policy, Internal Controls and Assurance while maintaining a proper audit trail and documentation for future audits and reviews
  • Review proper classification and coding of income and expenditures
  • Ensure accuracy and compliance with ABB procedures in general accounting practices, budgets, and policies
  • Analyze and balance general ledger accounts, verify transactions and journal entries, accumulate, and maintain data, prepare schedules, variance analyses, and reports for management review
  • Assist with the preparation of period-ending reports as well as assist with minor cost accounting responsibilities and special projects
  • Month-end activities to include (but not limited to): account analyses, account reconciliations, journal entry creation, posting and review, inventory analyses, balance reconciliations
  • Work with facility cycle counters to facilitate the daily cycle count process
  • Administration of all capital projects from Creation to disposal
  • Communicate with different project sponsors to check on the status of all ongoing projects
  • Facilitate excess and obsolete inventory process
  • Review and reconcile intercompany process
  • Assist with general accounts payable inquiries
  • Validate the accuracy of operational and financial data, business information and reports by performing reconciliations and reviews of exceptions
  • Analyze the drivers of financial performance and identify trends. Prepare financial modeling for various "what if" scenarios and the overall impact on the factory. Special focus areas: product/business line profitability, product costing, production variances, over/under-absorption analysis/inventory analysis, incl. cycle count results, productivity analysis
  • Optimize performance to increase productivity by developing automated solutions, eliminating duplication, and coordinating information requirements
  • Establish and oversee processes and tools to obtain transparent and reliable financial data and business information
  • Ensure timely and efficient communication with controllers and the relevant peers to identify and discuss issues and suggestions for improvement
Your background

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or business is highly preferred
  • 8 to 10 years of experience in a cost accounting or factory financial analyst role
  • Experience with computerized accounting systems and financial reporting software, including (SAP, Oracle, KBM or related financial systems)
  • Cost accounting experience required
  • English language skill(s) and proficiency
  • Strong Microsoft EXCEL skills and demonstrate proficiency with other Microsoft Office products
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
