The Maintenance Manager is responsible for managing and directing the activities of the maintenance department, including facilities, controls, maintenance specialist, projects, MRO (Maintenance, Repair and Operating Supplies) purchasing, maintenance planning, capital and expense projects, process improvements as well as asset/equipment maintenance and preventative maintenance. In this role, you will be responsible for cost control and department budgets, as well as capital project development and implementation.

Your responsibilities

  • Assure maximum uptime for all facility equipment
  • Play a direct role in the selection of new processes and equipment and repair and maintenance of existing equipment
  • Perform oversight on any number of capital projects each year as well as planning capital requirements for up to 10 future years
  • Assure that adequately trained and high performing staff is on hand to address the maintenance needs of the facility
  • Facilitate communication with employees to gain ideas and resolve problems to improve safety, quality, and processes
  • Effectively manage the implementation of the Power Maintenance initiative into the culture and every day operating practices of the facility
  • Manage projects, develop project plans, maintain project timelines, report issues and status to the plant manager on a regular basis. Assure management is appropriately informed to make effective decisions
  • Manage Repair and Maintenance costs, maintenance indirect labor and direct reporting salaried exempt labor to meet budget and cost control goals
  • Assure maintenance activities are integrated and supporting of all plant goals including maintenance involvement as follows: Capital additions and changes in plant layout are reviewed by maintenance prior to final approval
  • Maintenance is consulted in the planning of major projects
  • Ensure that all newly installed equipment is fully maintainable before it is put into service
  • Machines and process equipment modification designs are subject to maintenance review prior to final approval
  • Equipment purchases, material selections, and project design decisions are influenced by life cycle cost, employee safety and overall maintainability
  • Maintenance Specialist identifies the potential for cost reduction through extended part life, reduced labor cost and spare parts improvement techniques to positively impact operating costs
  • There is a material, equipment and spare parts standardization program in effect that is fully integrated into new construction and equipment purchases
Your background

  • Bachelor's Degree with minimum 8 years of experience OR Associate's Degree with minimum 10 years of experience OR High School Diploma/GED with minimum 12 years of experience
  • With minimum of 5 years of maintenance experience in a leadership role preferred
  • Must have a proven track record and experience with Lean Manufacturing and analytical problem solving tools including "Six Sigma", Root Cause Failure Analysis and statistical analysis methods Experience with budget management and cost control methods
  • Computer skills including Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, AutoCAD, PLC Control Software and Baldor B.U.S. systems for maintenance and material planning preferred
  • Ability to conceptualize, design and implement innovative improvements in automated production equipment in a cross functional group setting
  • Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) and Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) skills
  • Driven organizational manager capable of achieving results through the application of lean manufacturing and systemic organizational improvements
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
