At Aurora Flight Sciences, we design, build, and fly advanced aircraft and enabling technologies from concept to reality. We are searching for a talented and self-motivated Manufacturing Engineer I to help us create the future of flight. Responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:
-Create and maintain Engineering masters and operations work orders through an electronic ERP System (SAP).
-Create part inspection check lists, first article inspections, manufacturing planning documents, inspection sheets, request for change inquiries, purchase orders, inspect drawings, provide support to the production floor with drawing and technical specifications interpretations.
-Main interface with internal or external design engineering services.
-Prevent process bottlenecks and improve processes for the manufacturing engineering activities.
-Follow established company procedures and project execution processes.
-Performs to individual and company objectives and metrics.
-Incorporates lean manufacturing principles and participates in process improvement initiatives.
-Address MRB conditions and recommend and implement corrective actions.
-Identify and implement process improvements across the facility.
-Participate in change board activities.
- Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience.
- Proficient with GD&T and blueprint reading/model interrogation.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- Experience with CATIA, NX or similar 3D CAD Software.
- Must be a US Person.
- Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience.
- Hands-on composite part fabrication and assembly experience.
- Demonstrated ability to accurately deal with multiple tasks ensuring timely completion.
- Demonstrated CAD/CAM experience in any software package.
- Ability to implement process improvements to improve part quality, reduce cycle time and cost.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment as an effective independent contributor.
- Demonstrated ability to lead a small team.
- Ability to provide input for effective and efficient resolution of technical problems at the direction of engineering management.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment and wear proper PPE.
- Ability to transport objects up to 35 pounds as well as consistently stoop, crawl, bend, crouch, climb and kneel.
- Able to work flexible schedule, including extended hours and weekends.
- Work onsite in Columbus, MS.
