Position Title: Assembler C

Job Code: New Britain: 900601, Madison: 900101

Reports To: Value Stream Manager

Grade: NB Hourly 6, MAD Hourly 1

Position Summary:

Performs a variety of operations to assemble and test valves within a work cell of a value stream according to product specifications and quality standards. Achieves production goals to deliver on time, high-quality products to customers.

Key Accountabilities:

* Assemble valves with instruction and supervision in a work cell within the business unit.

* Meet productivity targets for assigned cells.

* Follow guidelines to assure proper set up for assembly and the actual assembly of product.

* Inspect and test each product produced to assure it meets quality standards.

* Pack product for shipping.

* Apply standard operating procedures to complete work assignments thoroughly and accurately; identify and correct errors and pay attention to details.

* Work with the cell team to meet or exceed production standards; complete work in a timely manner; plan and prioritize work.

* Follow safety and 5S guidelines; maintain a clean and organized work area and used good safety judgment.

* Understand ISO procedures and know where appropriate documentation is kept.

* Share input in team improvement board and High Performance Team meetings.

* Perform other duties as assigned.

Education, Credentials and Previous Experience:

* High School Diploma or equivalent required.

* 0 - 3 months experience in manufacturing environment, assembly preferred

Technical Depth and Breadth:

  • Basic computer skills.
  • Able to follow written/verbal instructions and directions in English.
  • Learns and maintains required skill and proficiency to successfully accomplish full job responsibilities; willingly takes on new assignments and cross trains in other areas.
  • Able to work proficiently (3/4 dot on Skills Matrix) in assigned cells.

Problem Soliving and Analytical Skills:

  • In coordination with team members, initiate contact with other support groups to resolve problems.
  • Actively participate in improvement activities, Lean and Kaizen projects, HPT and TIB meetings.
  • Learn structured problem solving skills.
  • Provide suggestions for improvement. Consistently open to change and new ideas.

Teamwork and Interpersonal Skills:

  • Dependable, prompt and reliable with good overall attendance; present at work station when required.
  • Demonstrate ability to get along with others; behave professionally; treat all coworkers with respect and dignity consistent with Parker Values and Code of Conduct.
  • Actively participate; gain cooperation and trust; and deal with conflicts effectively.

Communication/Contact with Others:

* Able to read, understand and follow written & verbal instructions and directions in English.

* Keep others informed, provide accurate and timely feedback, communicate clearly, listen and be receptive to feedback.

Physical and Mental Demands:

With or without reasonable accommodation:

* Required to sit, stand, bend & reach.

* May be required to stand, sit or alternate between sitting and standing for 8+ hours at a time, based on business needs.

* Require near vision acuity, color vision, and visual accommodation to see and manipulate small parts at near point for extended periods of time.

* Good hand/eye coordination and manual dexterity.

* Rotate functions in cells as needed.

* Frequent lifting or moving of lightweight (<20 lbs.) materials, occasional lifting up to 26 lbs.

* Use of Personal Protective Equipment as required, may include safety glasses, safety shoes, hearing protection, and/or any other equipment deemed necessary.

* Able to work in a non-air conditioned plant year round.
